"I Don't Have Time!" Will Vann Have you ever had one of those days, or even weeks, where you are busy all of the time, going non-stop, but never seeming to accomplish anything. I am almost sure that we have all experienced times like this, where there is just not enough time in the day. Many times we get so busy with our lives that we start to leave things out to make room for others. Many times we leave out important things that we should not. One thing that suffers first in this life’s ever increasingly hectic pace is our relationship with God. Pray “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray” (Js. 5:13). It is easy to sympathize with this verse because we seem to remember God more easily when we feel that we need Him. It is always good to ask God for what we need. He expects that we do so, but we should not restrict our time in prayer to wants and needs only, but in giving thanks and praise as well. We are to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thes. 5:17). This means even when we think that we are too busy. Meditate The Psalmist did not think that God was to be put second to anything, including sleep. “My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word” (Ps. 119:148). Time was made to meditate, not just scan through or a simple reading before bedtime, but to dig deep into the things of God. Also, as Paul said to those at Philippi, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Phil. 4:8). Conclusion If we do not have time to give to God, then where is our time spent? What is so pressing in our lives that we cannot make the necessary time for our Lord and Master, our Creator? If God is not first and foremost, then there needs to be a re-prioritizing in our lives.
