Will Vann "Officially" Begins as Minister

Brian R. Kenyon

Will Vann was born in Kerrville, Texas, on December 26, 1982. He lived throughout Texas growing up, and graduated high school from Franklin in 2001. He enlisted in the US Navy shortly thereafter, and in the last week of boot camp, 9-11 happened. He served in the US Navy Seabees from 2001 to 2006, which included tours in Iraq and Kuwait. He is a 2008 graduate of the Florida School of Preaching. He and his wife, Autumn, have been married since June 14, 2008.

Will is no stranger to those of us at Eagle Lake, having occasionally filled-in here since 2006 and having dated the former preacher’s daughter (and eventually marrying her). The elders ask for your continued support as we make this transition.

No matter who preaches and teaches from the pulpit when the church assembles, our work as Christians and the Eagle Lake church of Christ must continue. First, we must continue glorifying God. Paul said, “Therefore... whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31, NKJ). The only way to glorify God is to continue living His will (Col. 3:17). Second, we must continue working together and encouraging one another so as to strengthen this congregation. It has been correctly observed that “We cannot evangelize the world more rapidly than we can establish and stabilize local congregations.” True growth must come from the inside out. The early church was first devoted to spiritual things, helping one another, and enjoying being with one another before the “Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:42-47). Third, we must continue bringing souls to Christ. This is our Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-16). Fourth, we must continue our financial support. Though we are small, we have much work for the Lord. Not only does Will need support, but Christian and the Iglesia de Cristo still need support. Let us, like the Macedonians, support the Lord’s work, though it may require great sacrifice (2 Cor. 8:1-5)!

Shift in Responsibilities

As it stands now, the elders will have Will do the preaching and teach the Sunday morning adult class. Will will assist Logan with the teenage class until Logan relocates after graduation from FSOP. Brian will teach the Wednesday night adult Bible class as he has been doing. Brian will continue editing the bulletin until Will and Autumn get settled in. Let us support Will and Autumn as we make this transition, to God’s glory!
