Welcome To Our "Family" Gospel Meeting!

Brian R. Kenyon

We are glad you are here! Whether you are a regular member or a visitor, family or friend, we are thankful for your presence, and want to extend to you our warmest welcome! You are our honored guest!

As the name indicates, our “Gospel Meeting” is about the “Gospel.” As our advertisements indicate, the part of the “Gospel” (which literally means “good news”) that we want to focus on is the family. Since the family is the basic unit of both society and the church, all of us benefit from strong families. God has given us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Pet. 1:3).

Part of what pertains to “life and godliness” has to do with God’s instructions for the family. Clearly, physical life is much better when the family functions Scripturally. After commanding children to “obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right,” Paul says, “That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth” (Eph. 6:1-3). Spiritual life is also sustained when the family functions Scripturally. Wives can literally win their unbelieving husbands simply by their reverent “chaste conduct” (1 Pet. 3:1-6, NKJ). Husbands are told to live with their wives “according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Pet. 3:7). The only thing that hinders prayers is sin (Isa. 1:15; 59:1-2; Pr. 15:29; 28:9). Thus, it is sinful for a husband not to live with his wife as the Bible instructs!

The wise man acknowledged, “There is a generation that curses its father, And does not bless its mother. There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. There is a generation—oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, And whose fangs are like knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, And the needy from among men” (Pr. 30:11-14, NKJ). Although this was written around 3,000 years ago, it could very well describe a “generation” among us today. The only thing that will positively change society for the better and strengthen the church is the Gospel applied!
